Named after the many deposits of mussels at the beaches, the town is a well-known sea food town and a variety of activities such as Shark cage diving, fishing, sky diving etc. makes this town one of the must stop towns along the garden route. The Diaz Museum which has a replica of the ship that first rounded the tip of Africa in the late 15th century also attracts many visitors. The beaches are golden sandy beaches and the Indian ocean currents makes the ocean warmer attracting a lot of beach goers.
