Chacma Bush Camp experiences an average annual rainfall of 350mm, mostly during mid-summer (November–February) as brief thunderstorms. Temperatures range from 24.5°C in July to 31.5°C in January, with the coldest nights in July averaging 8.5°C. This climate offers diverse seasonal experiences, from warm summers to mild winters, ideal for enjoying the surrounding wilderness.
The Maseke region is considered a low-risk malaria area, but it’s best to consult your doctor for advice. Common medications for malaria prevention include Malarone, Doxycycline, or Melfloquine. Mosquitoes are more active during the wet, warmer season, so using mosquito repellent and creams is highly recommended as additional preventative measures.
During the dry season, wildlife congregates around watering holes, while the wet season brings dense vegetation and more dispersed animals. Over a 3-night stay, expect to see the Big Five, along with giraffes, zebras, warthogs, hyenas, and more. You may also spot wild dogs, cheetahs, porcupines, and various bird species, including vultures and hornbills.
On game drives at Chacma Bush Camp, you can get incredibly close to big game, often within five to ten meters. The animals are habituated to the vehicles, allowing for safe and intimate encounters. All game drives are conducted in open 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers or Land Rovers, providing an immersive, thrilling safari experience.
