The Klaserie region is considered a low-risk malaria area, but it is recommended to consult your doctor for advice on prevention. For the Kruger area, medications such as Malarone, Doxycycline, or Melfloquine are commonly prescribed. Taking these precautions, along with using mosquito repellent, will help ensure a safe and comfortable safari experience.
During the dry season, sparse vegetation draws wildlife to waterholes, while the wet season sees dense vegetation and dispersed animals. Over 2–3 nights, expect to see the Big Five, along with giraffes, zebras, warthogs, and more. Rare sightings include wild dogs and honey badgers. Birdlife is diverse, featuring vultures, owls, hornbills, and bee-eaters.
On game drives, animals are habituated to vehicles, allowing you to safely get within five to ten meters of large game. The animals recognize the vehicles as non-threatening, providing an intimate and close-up wildlife experience. All drives are conducted in open 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers or Land Rovers, ensuring excellent visibility and comfort.
